\F0\C1 December 1974

Dear Susie,

\J	I have made you an appointment with the ENT man who cured my
nosebleeds for 3:45pm on December 19. He will examine you then and
set up the tonsilectomy, if that's what he concludes is necessary. I
suppose it might help to bring medical records.

Here are those two statements that I promised to send you and
a copy of a newspaper article that resulted - not too bad a result
considering that about 100 groups testified at the hearings. The strategy
of getting out our press release on Friday for hearings starting on Monday
seems to have worked this time.

I am going to Japan for the Spring quarter, more precisely from
March 25 to June 30. Probably I will get someone to live in the house
while I am away and transport Sarah around.
After Japan I may travel in Asia for a week or two or three before coming
home.

The statement on "technological optimism" is progressing slowly.
There will be a meeting of about 15 people at Stanford in a month or
so to decide what to do next. The unrealistic level of gloom
in the press stemming from the \F1experts\F0 is making more people feel
the need of some such thing, so we may get some action once we get
started. The trouble is that everyone is too busy.\.
